Childrens Classes
Introduction
Do you want your child to have:
- Confidence in spoken English
- A greater knowledge and understanding of literature
- Skills necessary for GCSE success
- An opportunity to gain important qualifications ?
A clear speaking voice and correct pronunciation are vital in today’s
modern world. Confidence in spoken communication is important for both
school and examination success. For those at school, poor verbal
skills can mean disappointing marks in GCSEs and failing that
all-important college or university interview.
I offer high quality tuition in all aspects of speech and
communication. Every aspect of speech is taught:
- Correct pronunciation
- Vocabulary building
- Accent reduction
- Correct breathing
- Reading skills
Examinations
All students have the opportunity to work towards and take
examinations in speech. The examinations require no written
element and are taken locally. Subjects available:
- Speaking of Verse and Pose
- Reading for Performance
- Spoken English
- Public Speaking
My teaching practice is the Birmingham Centre of The National
College of Music Est. 1894. I prepare candidates to take the
College’s graded examinations in Speech. Candidate may also work
towards medals.
I also prepare candidates for LAMDA examinations.
LAMDA is the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art. It is one of the oldest drama schools in the UK, founded in 1861. Their qualifications have recently been accredited by QCA.
LAMDA certificates are very highly thought of by universities and colleges and are validated by the QCA as a valid qualification. LAMDA study equips pupils with the analytical skills and critical vocabulary necessary to excel in GCSE examinations of all disciplines. They are the perfect compliment to GCSE study, and with recent QCA accreditation can be used in UCAS applications for further study.
